Catholic Religious Communities

Here is a small selection (mostly from the USA) of healthy Catholic religious communities that I know or that I've heard of from others are communities very faithful to the Church's faith and loyal to the magisterium, and are attracting many good Catholic vocations. (These two things tend to go together: those who want to give their lives to Christ in religious life, want to do so in a sound community that is truly faithful to the Church founded by Christ.) At the bottom of the page you can find links to larger directories of communities.

VocationsPlacement.org seeks to provide help in deciding which community is the right one for you. (There was a complaint that Vocations Placement is indiscreet in giving out e-mail addresses and having information sent from religious communities.)

Communities for Men

• Benedictines in Norcia - This new foundation at the birthplace of St. Benedict prays the entire office and keeps the monastic fast just as prescribed by St. Benedict in his rule. The office is sung in Latin, with Gregorian Chant.
